Michael Setter
It is with deep sadness that we share the news that our former Chairman, Michael Setter, has recently passed. Michael led The Building Safety Group (BSG) with vision, integrity, and unwavering dedication for several decades since he started the organisation in 1973.
Since that time, Michael was at the forefront of health and safety for the construction industry for most of his working life. His passion for reducing the occupational risks faced by those working in the building trade, led to him becoming Chairman of BSG in 1986. Many would agree that it was Michael’s foresight and entrepreneurial skills that saw BSG grow from its humble beginnings in Bristol, with just one Safety Adviser, to a national provider of health and safety consultancy services to construction companies throughout the UK.
Current BSG Chairman, Neil Sherreard commented: “Michael had an untiring dedication to support organisations in the pursuit of improving health and safety having been one of the founders of BSG some 50 years ago. He was a truly wonderful person, whose warmth and wisdom touched the lives of many. Michael’s contributions to BSG were profound and lasting, and his legacy continues to shape our business today and into the future. During his tenure, he championed values that remain at the heart of our culture today.”
Neil added: “I was lucky to work with Michael for nearly 20 years and those who had the privilege of working with him will remember him fondly- as a truly lovely and caring person.
BSG would not have been possible if not for Michael’s tenacity, drive and all-round enthusiasm which has been paramount to growing the organisation.”
All at BSG extend our heartfelt condolences to Michael’s family and loved ones during this difficult time.
